Saturday July 8th.
Leicester Square.
Exact details TBC, however General Plan:
Meet early afternoon, see an afternoon showing of the film, go to the
Dutch-themed watering hole known as De Hems, which, depending on
numbers, may well be able to put an area aside for us. Therefore, I will
need to know *in advance* who is coming. Exact details will be confirmed
nearer the time.
De Hems also does some fairly nice food. They have a standard chain-pub
menu and an additional Dutch menu.
One special thing: De Hems will be getting in, at my request, a quantity
of Piraat beer. How cool is that?
If enough people would be interested in wearing pirate/wench type
costumes, then that would be fun too. I don't want to be the only one.

A Pirates of the Caribbean meet? PotC is my favourite film. I can't wait for
the sequel. And I can't think of any better way of seeing the sequel than
combining it with a AFPMeet.
To say I'm interested is an understatement. I'd love to come. But I'll have
to look into things to see if I can.

Very cool.I've never tried it. But I will.

I actually have the basics of a costume so yeah, I'd be willing to do it if
others will.I is the intent to go into the cinema in costume (think of the
attention we'd get. Maybe they'll let us in for free[1]) or just the pub
bit.

How about a modern-type pirate? You know, like the ones rocketing about
the Indian Ocean in motorboats and things, with assault rifles between
their teeth and ammo belts round their shoulders?

Or the kind sitting in front of a computer with a DVD burner
between their teeth and a scanner slung round their shoulders?
(There's almost certainly a pun on "freebooters" to he had
here, but I don't know the jargon well enough to do it...)

There are those who thinks that anyone booting Linux is a Free Booter.
The word, I think, comes from the Dutch "Frei Booten", free boatmen.
Cloggies may correct me.

It would be "vrij", for a start.

Well changing just to go to the pub would be a bit silly... so yeah, to
the cinema.

Gettting a pub to get a new brand in is pretty darn cool. Getting a
"Dutch" pub in the UK to sell a Belgian beer (i.e. out-of-theme beer) is
even cooler.
The beer itself though, I'd term lethal rather than cool:
IIRC it has 11% ABV; I know wines with a lower ABV than that.
Well done, though mine's a pint of Young's bitter please (at least I can
down a few pints of that without falling over, or thinking I can walk on
my hands).
TTFN,
Reinier.

Well they do dutch and belgian beers, and have apparently had Piraat
before. On the other hand, I will now not be attending this meet if it
goes ahead. Oh well.

Darn! I was looking forward to seeing the costume you came up with. You'll be
sorely missed.
I don't know if you're just not able to attend or if you're unable to
organise the meet. If it's the latter, is there anyone who could step in?
I would volunteer, if needed, but I'm in Manchester which makes organising
something in London kinda difficult.

I can't do either, I'm afraid.
